Care, Prayer & Support

There are times on everyone’s journey where a little more care and compassion is needed because of a difficult experience. At Good Shepherd we promise to listen, empathize and be a reminder that we, your faith community, care.

What We Offer

Prayer Concerns
When you or a loved one is in need of prayer and support, please call the church office or email prayerconcerns@goodshepherdigh.com. The pastor will work with you in determining if you want your concern forwarded to our Prayer Companion Team or stay confidential between you and the pastor.  Our public prayer procedure can be viewed here.

Hospital Visits
Hospitals do not notify churches when their members are admitted. If you or a loved one is hospitalized, please contact the church office.

Home Visits
The Pastors are available to visit, support and bring Holy Communion to Good Shepherd members who are unable to attend worship.

Healing After Loss Ministry
Our Healing After Loss Ministry offers comfort and support to those navigating the grief of losing a loved one or experiencing other significant life losses, such as a job change or relocation.  Through our Healing After Loss series, guided by professionals, participants gain practical tools for coping and healing.  We also host a meaningful Surviving the Holidays Dinner & Worship Service, as well as a Grief Lectionary Bible Study and Support Group

Plan Your Funeral Workshop
Every other year, we offer a Plan Your Funeral Workshop – a special event designed to help individuals thoughtfully consider and prepare for their end of life wishes.  This workshop provides practical resources and information from a trusted local funeral home, including guidance on making funeral arrangements, understanding available options, and relieving loved ones of difficult decisions during a time of grief.  In addition, our pastors offer spiritual insight and support as they walk participants through how to plan a meaningful worship service.  Whether you’re planning ahead for yourself or helping a loved one make preparations, this workshop empowers you to make informed choices and offers peace of mind in knowing your desires will be honored with care and dignity.

Plan Your Financial Legacy
Every other year, our Care, Prayer, and Support Team hosts a Plan Your Financial Legacy workshop designed to help individuals consider the long-term impact of their financial planning.  Led by a qualified financial planner, this event offers guidance to make informed charitable decisions and explore how including the church in your estate plan can leave a lasting legacy.  Participants learn how planned giving can not only reflect their values but also help sustain the church’s ministry and mission for generations to come.

Wellness Ministry
Our Wellness Ministry is rooted in the belief that true well-being involves care for the whole self – body, mind, and spirit.  Each year, we offer two events that provide opportunities to explore wellness through a faith-based lens, featuring topics and practices that promote physical health, mental clarity, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth.  Whether through guest speakers or interactive experiences, these gatherings are designed to encourage holistic living and support individuals on their journey toward balance and wholeness.

AA & NA Meetings
Several Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous groups meet at Good Shepherd throughout the week.
