Nurturing Our Youngest
At Good Shepherd we welcome people of all ages in worship including infants and young children. Children’s bulletins and activities bags are available for their use during the services. Many services include a Children’s Message giving children a chance to come up front and interact directly with the pastors.
A quiet space for babies to eat and rest is located in our new Nursery in the Inter†Gen wing. Changing stations are located in both restrooms in the Commons area, the Family restroom in the Inter†Gen wing and the quiet space in the Nursery.
Our Nursery is staffed with loving adult and youth attendants during the 9:15 and 10:30 morning worship services on Sunday plus evening services during the season of Advent (Sundays at 5:30 and Wednesdays at 6:30). During the summer months, childcare is provided at the 10:00 Sunday service. Children 6 weeks thru Pre-Kindergarten are welcome to spend time in this area if the need arises. No registration is needed for infant nursery care and drop-in childcare. Security practices are implemented to insure the well being of all children.
Sunday†School for Pre-K children
During the school year, Sunday†School for Pre-K children is offered on most Sundays from 9:15-10:15. Online registration for this class is located under “contact us”. In the Pre-K class, children ages 2-5 are taught that Jesus loves them through a variety of activities including Bible stories, music, craft projects and games.
The Sacrament of Holy Baptism at Good Shepherd Lutheran
As Lutherans we believe that baptism is a significant day on person’s faith journey because it is when God makes visible what was always known – that he/she is a special Child of God. God promises to love us always no matter where we go or what we do. Most baptisms here are performed during one of the worship services so our members of the congregation can support the baptism family on this important day as well as throughout their lives.
Classes on the Sacrament of Holy Baptism are offered on the first Sunday of each month (October to May) from 11:15-12:15. Pastor Leesa will provide more valuable information regarding baptism to parents and/or grandparents of young children and to older persons who wish to become baptized. Baptism sponsors are also welcome to attend.
Contact the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a baptism or to sign-up for a baptism class.
