Nurturing Our Youngest

Children in Worship

Here at Good Shepherd children are always welcome in worship! We love having kids present with us in our services and try to have multiple points of connection for kids in the service itself – like our children’s messages, songs, and faith milestones. When kids are present in worship they are learning – not just from the sermon but from all the songs, actions, and spoken responses. We believe it is essential to allow children the opportunity to learn the language of worship at a young age. Especially if you have young children, consider sitting closer to the front of the church. The more your kids can see, the more connected they will feel to worship.

‘Lil Worship Corner

We have a dedicated space in the commons for young children who need a break during the worship service.  There are age-appropriate toys, books, and coloring pages for children to explore while still staying engaged in the worship service.  We encourage parents and kids to rejoin the worship service when they are ready.

Nursery

A quiet space for babies to eat and rest is located in our Nursery in the Inter†Gen wing. Changing stations are located in both restrooms in the Commons area, the Family restroom in the Inter†Gen wing and the quiet space in the Nursery.  Parents are welcome to visit the nursery area with their children during services and ministry events.  Audio from the Sanctuary can be heard in the nursery during worship.

Family Fun Night

During the school year, once a month we have a Family Fun Night. While all ages are welcome these are primarily geared towards pre-K and elementary students. Join us for a meal, a Bible story, and some fun activities as we learn about God’s love together.

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism at Good Shepherd Lutheran

As Lutherans we believe that baptism is a significant day on a person’s faith journey because it is when God makes visible what was always known – that each person is a special Child of God. God promises to love us always no matter where we go or what we do. Baptisms here are performed during worship services so our members of the congregation can support the baptism family on this important day as well as throughout their lives.

Contact the church office at admin@goodshepherdigh.com to schedule a baptism.  Once you have scheduled the baptism through the office, a pastor will contact you about a time to meet.  At this meeting you will discuss details, logistics and learn more about this gift of grace.
